How much does ChatGPT Business cost a company, and what's missing?
ChatGPT Business (formerly Team) costs €21 to €26 per user per month; Enterprise is quote only. What else lands on the bill and what an EU company misses.
ChatGPT Business, formerly ChatGPT Team, costs €21 per user per month billed annually and €26 billed monthly, with a minimum of two users. ChatGPT Enterprise has no public price; you negotiate it with OpenAI's sales team. Depending on how hard your team uses it, Premium seats and credits come on top. As of 9 October 2026, from OpenAI's pricing page in euros.
The list price is only the start. Below: what a ten-person firm actually pays, the billing rules in the small print, and what ChatGPT Business leaves open for a company in the EU.
How much does ChatGPT Business cost per user?
OpenAI sells ChatGPT to companies in two tiers, Business and Enterprise. Since this year, Business has two seat types. As of 9 October 2026:
| Plan | Price per user per month | Minimum | Payment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plus (individual) | €23 | 1 | card |
| Business, Standard seat | €21 annual, €26 monthly ($20 / $25) | 2 seats | card |
| Business, Premium seat | $100 annual, $125 monthly | 2 seats (can be mixed) | card |
| Enterprise | custom | through sales | invoice |
Sources: OpenAI's pricing page for euro prices, and the help article on ChatGPT Business billing for dollar prices and Premium seats, which OpenAI only quotes in dollars. A Premium seat includes five times the usage of a Standard seat, according to OpenAI.
For a ten-person accounting or design firm on Standard seats, that is €210 a month on annual billing, so €2,520 paid up front for the year, or €260 a month on monthly billing. If you identify as a business and enter your tax ID at checkout, OpenAI does not charge VAT, according to its help centre.
What costs come on top of ChatGPT Business?
Three items barely show on the pricing page but do show on the invoice.
Credits. Every Business seat has usage limits for the heavier features: Deep Research, reasoning models, image generation, advanced voice and Codex. When someone hits the limit, the feature is blocked until the workspace owner buys credits. Credits are valid for 12 months, are non-refundable, and can recharge automatically, per the help article on flexible pricing. Their rates sit on a separate rate card. If two or three people on your team do a lot of analysis, budget for it.
Empty seats. OpenAI charges for every seat you bought, assigned or not. Remove a colleague and you keep paying for the seat until you schedule a reduction, which applies from the next billing cycle. On an annual plan, a seat you add in March is committed until the end of the contract year.
Refunds. Unused seats are not refunded, except for verified errors or where the law requires it.
None of this is unusual for software subscriptions. It does mean annual billing saves €5 per seat per month and locks in your seat count. If your team is still finding its feet, monthly billing is often the honest choice.
Is a company account worth it over individual Plus subscriptions?
On price, barely any difference. Plus costs €23 a month, a Business seat €21 to €26. The difference is elsewhere.
With Plus, the account belongs to the employee. What they type can be used for training unless they switch it off. There is no data processing agreement, and you can't see who puts what in. When they leave, their chats stay in their personal account.
With Business, the workspace belongs to the company. OpenAI says it doesn't train on business data by default, and you get an admin console, SAML SSO and a data processing addendum. That contract matters: Article 28 GDPR requires one, in writing, whenever a provider processes personal data on your behalf. If you are expensing five Plus subscriptions today, you pay roughly the same and get less control. How each plan handles data protection is covered in Is ChatGPT GDPR-compliant for businesses?
What does ChatGPT Enterprise add?
OpenAI positions Enterprise for large companies. Compared with Business it adds, among other things: SCIM for automatic account provisioning, your own encryption keys, role-based access controls, IP allowlisting, data residency in ten regions, ISO certifications, 24/7 support with SLAs, dedicated onboarding, invoice billing and volume discounts.
For a company of 5 to 50 people, the item that matters most is the invoice. Business is card only. Invoices, bank transfers and purchase orders are, per OpenAI, only available on contracted plans. If your finance team won't run software on a company card, you end up talking to Enterprise sales whether or not you need the rest.
What is ChatGPT Business missing for a company in the EU?
Three things to know before you pay.
Where the data lives. Data residency for Business is rolling out gradually and isn't available to everyone yet. It covers storage, not where requests are processed. And even if you pick a region outside the US, a copy of every prompt and response is kept in the US for a limited time for abuse monitoring. That is in OpenAI's own help article on Business storage.
One provider. In ChatGPT you work with OpenAI's models. If you want a different model for certain tasks, that means a second tool and a second contract.
Rollout. Dedicated onboarding is Enterprise only. On Business you set up the workspace, write the internal rules and train the team yourself. The AI literacy duty under Article 4 of the AI Act stays with you. A template for those rules is in AI policy for employees.
Which option fits your company?
ChatGPT Business fits if your team is fine with OpenAI's models, you can pay by card, and the storage rules above work for your data. Then it is a solid tool at a fair price, and far better than everyone using a personal account.
Verselo is built for when one of those points doesn't fit. Your team picks a model or leaves it on "Auto", from several top models in one place: see Chat & models. EU-hosted models from leading providers; your data stays in the EU, and it is never used for training. One exception we'd rather tell you ourselves: web search sends the search terms to Google, and admins can switch it off. Nothing is ever billed by usage; admins set a monthly budget and per-person caps, as shown on Admin & security. Where data is stored is on the Security page.

Frequently asked questions
How much is ChatGPT Team per user?
ChatGPT Team is now called ChatGPT Business. A standard seat costs €21 per user per month billed annually or €26 billed monthly, from two users, according to OpenAI's euro pricing page. In US dollars the help centre lists $20 and $25. Premium seats and credits cost extra. As of 9 October 2026; check OpenAI's pricing page before you buy.
What is the difference between ChatGPT Business and Enterprise?
Business is self-serve, paid by card, capped at 200 paid seats per subscription. Enterprise is negotiated with OpenAI's sales team and adds SCIM, your own encryption keys, role-based access, IP allowlisting, data residency in ten regions, 24/7 support with SLAs, invoice billing and volume discounts. For a team of 5 to 50, invoicing is often the deciding point.
Can I get a refund for unused ChatGPT Business seats?
Generally not. OpenAI bills every purchased seat whether or not it is assigned, and unused seats are not refunded unless there is a verified error or the law requires it. You can schedule a reduction, but it takes effect at the next billing cycle. On an annual plan, a seat added mid-year stays committed until the end of the term.
How does Verselo's billing differ from ChatGPT Business?
Verselo never bills by usage. Extras come only through prepaid credit packs, and admins set a monthly workspace budget and a cap per person. On data: EU-hosted models from leading providers; your data stays in the EU, with no training on it. Verselo's prices are on its pricing page.
