AI literacy (AI Act Art. 4)
- What is it?
- Art. 4 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 requires companies that use AI to take measures to build their staff's AI literacy. The duty has applied since 2 February 2025, and national authorities have enforced it since 2 August 2026. Since the amendment by Regulation (EU) 2026/1744, in force since 27 July 2026, no specific level per person has to be guaranteed. The duty to act remains.
- Example
- A tax office introduces an AI assistant. Before using it, the team learns in a training session which data may go in, how to check answers and where the limits are. Attendance is recorded.
- What to do
- Train everyone who works with AI in line with their role, and document who attended and when. For the legal assessment of your own case, ask your legal adviser. See the workshop with attendance record →
AI workspace
- What is it?
- An AI workspace is a shared environment where a team works with AI: chat with several models, the company's own documents as a knowledge source, assistants for recurring tasks and an admin area that decides who may do what.
- Example
- Instead of ten separate accounts, an office has one workspace. When someone asks for the notice period in a customer contract, the answer comes with the document and paragraph. The manager sees who uses AI, what it costs and which models are allowed.
- What to do
- Check four things before you choose: where the data is processed, whether it is used for training, whether answers cite their source and what admins can control. See what the Verselo workspace looks like →
